For those of you who are riding the British Cyclosportive on 1 July, any ideas on how to get to Greenwich for the start (I'm not riding out!) that doesn't involve leaving a car there? The car would be the last resort but I'd rather not have to get the bus all the way back when I live 10 miles form the end......

Martin, If you could get to Sittingbourne v early on the morning, it may be possible to get a lift in a van with us (I'll see what I can do with my mates mate who's doing the driving). I think it was a tenner each......
How many of you are taking part? I would travel down to take part, but I will be more than a little tired after the Gran Fondo Cymru on 27th May : / Otherwise that looks like a laugh.
I have just taken delivery of a compact chainset... which I am going to team up with a non compact rear block... thats kinda a half way house of admitting I am pathetic / too heavy and getting a tripple - right?
Maybe it sounds better if I say its only for lunacy hilly jollies?
No?
D'oh.
Thanks for the offer Phil, I reckon I could make it from Fav to Sittingbourne, even at 4.30 or whatever time in the morning it will have to be..... If you've still got room I'll catch up with you at an evening 10 with my tenner burning a hole in my pocket!!
Anthony, I think you're only allowed to use a compact chainset if you do the super challenge 200K version......
Have you seen how much climbing is in that - seriously?! I would ride out there to do the Bwlch y Groes or Hirnant pass as a goal for the day - not something to do to pass the time 7 hours into a ride!
So who else is going on this sportive, only two takers, surely not?
Have you seen Martin's new bike in the piccy - it's got three wheels! (and he's lost his beard)
And grown some hair back......
Cyclosportives, the scurge of cycling. It's all just touring on half decent bikes you know ;-)
...just without the beards and the two foot wide cotton duck saddle bag with the orange triangle on.
The weather for the GFC on Sunday was truly poor - if not the worst this year I have been out in (and that included snow). 8 hours clocked in and changed into something slightly less absolutely saturated.
I hope the July 1st affair is much MUCH drier and warmer for you!
It was foul weather in the flatlands of Kent on Sunday, so it must have been great fun on top of a welsh mountain. Still, these are the rides you'll remember and look back on with fond memories of how you were out there, getting wet and cold, but came through all those difficulties to finish (once you've dried out of course).
Hey, has this thread gone back in time? It's new years day 1970 and you chaps are showing off your xmas presents in your avatars!!
I reckon even I could beat 20 minutes if time goes back that far.
