9th April 2008
The second week saw an improvement in both the weather and the number of riders, with 16 competing on a bright but cool evening, with a fairly gentle breeze.
Due to the unavailability of the regular timekeeper, Dave Saffery, timing duties were handled by Dave Mastin. It was his first attempt using the club’s hi-tech watch but he came through it without any problems. He was assisted by Pete Huckstep and young Ollie Robinson, who kept a score of the laps completed.
Fastest rider of the evening was not a big surprise as Kristian House of the Rapha Condor Team came along to try out his time trial machine. Kristian posted a time of 22:28, which might be a course record, or at least very close to it. Thanet riders making an appearance were Colin Robinson, Colin Inett, Steve Quincey and Malcolm Adams.
To confuse the timekeeper, there were two Dave Williams’ riding, both from VC Deal! The elder of the two signed on as “Dave Williams – old git”, to avoid any confusion!

16 April 2008
This was the third week of the Wednesday evening 10 series at Fowlmead. Conditions were bright but a bitterly cold easterly wind kept the temperature down and made it a struggle for riders on the back part of the course. Due to a good turnout from the Deal Tri Club, there were 22 riders in total, which was very encouraging considering the conditions.
Timekeeping and lap counting duties were carried out by Andy McCall, Pete Huckstep and Dave Mastin.
The fastest two riders of the evening were Thanet members, with Paul Burrows first in a time of 22:26 and a comfortable margin over Andy Girling, who clocked 24:05.
Thanet riders making an appearance were Colin Robinson, Colin Inett, Chris Bax (2nd claim) and new member Simon Henderson who did 27:21, which was a very respectable ride given the conditions.
