Wednesday Evening 10's August 2009

5th August
Urrrggghhh another cock-up I erroneously attributed Andy B with 3 points last week… I’d like to blame the spreadsheet, but sadly once again it was not the technology that was to blame. Still, looking on the bright side, at least this proves that you lot are paying attention! Anyway, to this weeks racing:

19th August
Phew… I’d forgotten how hot it can get in a silly TT hat. Strangely though our treasurer (taking a day off from time keeping duties) decided that arm warmers were required; although to be honest he only wore one arm warmer and it wasn’t on his arm… don’t ask! Anyway, despite Dave Mastin feeling the draught, it was a cracking evening with an excellent turn out for Thanet Road Club’s return to Fowlmead. Pip celebrated by knocking 3 minutes off his best time this year, thus scoring maximum points. !!Pip also set a new age record!!.

26th August
A fresh southerly and the threat of rain… normality returns to Fowlmead. What with the large field, dealing with late arrivals and supervising a new apprentice our timekeeper Andy McCall had his work cut out and was seen sprinting to the finishing line just behind the first finisher!

...answer to question about how the points are calculated...

The person who beats their previous time by the biggest margin (or on a tough day, the person who goes backwards the least) gets 10 points; it then works backwards down to one point. Judging by recent errors by the TT sec though you could conclude that the points are awarded at random. On the subject of TT sec cock-ups, evidently Chris Fairbrass is 2nd claim; having re-assigned his points, Pete H may now have a clear lead... although I wouldn't want to bet on it!
