Dave Mastin reported:
Following the morning Go Ride time trials for the youngsters, the club held it's annual 10 mile TT on the Fowlmead course. Colin Robinson was the organiser once again and was rewarded with a field of 42 riders, including entries from 16 first claim riders and a pair of second claimers as well. The age spread of club riders was very wide from juveniles up to old-uns who ought to know better. The weather was warm but there was a south easterly breeze which made it a bit of struggle round the back of the circuit. At the start, the rider behind me asked whether it was always windy here and he looked slightly taken aback when I said that I thought it wasn't too bad for Fowlmead!!
The club took some of the prizes on offer, well done to Connor Thompson, Ollie Robinson and Andy Girling. Commiserations to Jonah Hawkes (a winner form the morning events) and Steve Quincey who tried to get away with just 4 laps instead of the regulation 5, and Paul Sawkins, who punctured.
Fastest rider of the day was Pete Tadros who clocked 20.48, and second went to his team mate, Will Manger with 21.09. It is thought that both of these rides were course records, with Will's record lasting less than 10 minutes.
Club times as follows:-
Simon Henderson 22.37
Andy Girling 23.01 (3rd Veteran on standard)
Bob Connell 26.05
Pete Huckstep 26.30
Dave Mastin 26.35
Steve Robertson 26.56
Colin Inett 27.04
Malcolm Adams 27.14
Ray Treby 28.45
Mervyn Brameld 29.02
Pete Haswell 30.57
Ollie Robinson 33.49 (1st Juvenile)
Mick Cooper 34.35
Connor Thompson 35.05 (3rd Juvenile and 3rd best improver)
And our organiser Colin Robinson said...
"I've updated the (go-ride) website with results and lots of photos from the time trial this morning. My thanks to the riders; it was great to see the new Thanet RC jerseys being worn and also a big thank-you to the timekeepers and helpers for both the Go-ride and the Thanet RC Open TT in the afternoon."
