4th August - Cancelled due to weather conditions
Rained hard in the afternoon, leaving standing water, greasy roads and dark skies. As I arrived Colin was just heading off in his car, he kindly turned back to pass on the message that it was cancelled for the evening.

Note that next week (11th August) is the last club event on the Thanet Way, then the following week (18th) it's back to Fowlmead.

11th August
The Weather Gods were very much on-side this week for the last bash on the Thanet Way, riders were met with a bright evening and just a very light SW breeze.

Some good times were posted including a sub 21 min by Gary Record, the fastest ride with us on Q10/31 this season and equaling the course record set by Paul Burrows.

Don't forget that next week (18th August) we are back at Fowlmead with a 6.30pm start. For the newer members that haven't been before click here for directions. It's an excellent facility with a purpose-built 2 mile cycle track, parking, changing facilities etc and because it is away from the roads and traffic it is ideal for younger members and those new to the sport who might be getting used to tribars and will be grateful for a traffic-free environment!

Wednesday 18th August
A blustery evening (normal conditions) for our first venture back to Fowlmead with a bumper field of 25 riders- Thanks to all our club members, 2nd claimers and guests who turned up to ride, and particularly well done to our strong contingent of junior riders who toiled around the course with the old timers.
The evening point’s competition is hotting up with Peter Huckstep holding Bob Connell off the top spot by 3 points. Andy Girling was the only rider to record an improvement on his previous ride this week.
Thanks to our officials Dave, Terry, Jenny, Andy, Deborah, Glenys and (anyone I missed) without whom we would not be riding.

The heavens opened early afternoon and the downpour continued throughout the afternoon into the evening. Those that arrived took the decision to abandon it and head home!
