Vets 10 1st September 2010 Q10/38

Our Treasurer, prior to running the club evening TT, ventured out on Wednesday to Great Chart to ride the Kent Vets monthly 10 mile time trial. Dave and Shay Giles were among 21 riders who took advantage of some reasonable but breezy weather on the Q10/38 course which uses the A28 and the roads around Shadoxhurst.

Dave recorded a time of 27.25, 13 seconds off his best for this course, while Shay did 24.54, which was good enough for 3rd place. Richard Masters was fastest with 22.35.

KCA 50 Harrietsham 15th August 2010 Q50/1

Thanks to Colin and Simon for reporting on this morning's ride, blended account follows...

Joint club 25 Sunday 8th August Q25/8

Simon reports:

Thanet were the last group off at this event on what started as a drizzly morning going down Molash hill and ended in warm sunshine on the finish line.
There was a bit of help from the light breeze in some places but everyone felt it on the return leg from Ashford.

TRC ride of the day went to Bill ‘the bikie’ Hawkes – a superb sub hour 59:58 on his first 25- well done Bill.
Also of note today was a PB for Peter Huckstep – nice one Pete and to quote him a ‘PB/WB’ for Mervyn on his first 25.

Wednesday Evening 10s August 2010

4th August - Cancelled due to weather conditions
Rained hard in the afternoon, leaving standing water, greasy roads and dark skies. As I arrived Colin was just heading off in his car, he kindly turned back to pass on the message that it was cancelled for the evening.

Note that next week (11th August) is the last club event on the Thanet Way, then the following week (18th) it's back to Fowlmead.

11th August

De Laune CC 25 Q25/8 1st August 2010

Simon reports on the De Laune event this morning. (As I was reading Simon's account it was a relief to get to the bit that said "Andy is OK" - here's hoping that you heal quickly Andy, hope to see you Wednesday!):

70+ riders for the event this morning, 16°C, dry and cloudy with no breeze in any particular direction
Andy was off no.3 but had an unfortunate ‘tumble’ on the way back at the Chilham fork. He was lucky not to end up under the following juggernaut.

VTTA (Kent) 10 - 31st July 2010 Q10/22

Simon reports on the early-morning slog along the Harrietsham course....

A damp and drizzly morning, 16°C greeted the riders this morning for a quick jaunt along the A20. With the wind in your face on the way out and on the way back it felt a bit of a slog but we recorded reasonable times:

Andy Burrows 26:14
Simon Henderson 22:39

The event was won by Mike Piper from San Fairy Ann 21:10

Kent VTTA 50 - 25th July 2010 Q50/11

Andy Burrows 2:17:38 (PB) earning a bronze medal for 3rd veteran on standard – Well done Andy a great ride.
Simon Henderson 1:59:40 (PB)

The winner was a superb ride from Steve Berry from San Fairy Ann 1:50:55."
